Look what the cat dragged in

Following my last emotional rollercoaster day at school, I indulged in some much needed retail therapy. I took some meaaan as photos of the fabric (for once) but now my card reader isn't working. Boo hoo, why do i even try.
This is quite a long one so you can locate it under the cut and stuff.

I went to global fabrics, on Garrett Street for those of you who live in Wellington. I don't go there often as find it intimidating, expensive, and the range isn't that excellent.
Turns out that's not entirely true. it is intimidating, but most fabric shops are to a degree. That's probably because I buy ridiculous fabrics, like pleathers and upholstery shit, and they ask me what I'm making and I actually find myself BEING HONEST ABOUT IT. Which means that they look at me like I'm a LUNATIC just because I want to make silver pleather pants or because I want to make the stiffest skirt known to mankind out of curtain material!!!!!! Shh!!!!!
Okay and it is quite expensive as well. A metre of the two following fabrics and two zips set me (my Dad, ahaah) back $60. But god they were fabulous.
And yeah the range isn't great, but it's not bad. I think it's limited, but that's more to weed out the shitty fabrics all the other fabric stores have in such an abundance- I fell in love time and time again in the ten minutes I was in the store.

The first fabric I got was this one.
I'd pop up a picture of what I've made out of it but I'm afraid I've already gifted it to the birthday girl. I was quite pleased with it in the end, it was all this fabric but then it had lil raglan sleeves made out of sheer black fabric with lil velvet dots on it and awwww yeah. then it had gold glittery bias binding on the sleeves and neckline and it was all quite nice. I like designing things with other people in mind but then i get really worried that they won't like it and then they'll feel obliged to wear it uuuhgghhh.

This is the second fabric I got. it comes up really shittily in photos which sucks, but basically it's all these different metallic colours and it's quilted and oh god it's sooooo niiiicccceeee. I've had my eye on it for like six months, ever since I saw a girl two years below me at school with it for a fabrics class project. I tried really sneakily to find out where she had gotten it from. It was important to be really sneaky because I don't think she knew who I was at all. I even sent my fabrics teacher on a mission to find out but I'm afraid she wan't too committed to the task at hand. And then, through a twist of fate usually only seen in romantic comedies, I came across the fabric when I was least expecting it. Sooooouulllmmmaaattes!
Except ew because I have no idea what to make out of it. I'm currently thinking a big ruffly tiered skirt with black leather in the mix there too, but that'll probably change.

Yeah and THIS arrived off Spoonflower!!! If you wanna buy it yourself, it's called "Comme Des Sardines" so just search that in the searchy bar thing of www.spoonflower.com. I'm planning on using it for my ball dress, which is early December, but I don't know how I want it to look at all. Gr8. I dare say I'll end up winging it. If anyone's thinking of maybe using spoonflower, I couldn't recommend it highly enough as the customer service is actually brilliant, which pretty much makes up for how long the shipping takes to New Zealand. They're having a free shipping day on the fifteenth though and oh god I'm so excited. I better get my shopping list ready now.

That's all from me for now. I'm sure I could ramble about fabric for days upon days but I think that's probably considered abuse.
Okay it's bedtime now as I am oh so sleepy.
See, look. That's photographic evidence of me being sleepy. I'm going to go remedy that issue right about now. XOXO
