Progress reports + Spotlight haul

My rainbow 'n' black yeti coat is well on the way to completion! Joseph and his technicolour dream coat better get out of the way, because there's a new sheriff in town.This sheriff is framing up to be one of the warmest things I own. It better be, because currently my carpet is just not surviving every time I give one of the seams a bit of a trim. Which is often, if you want any hope of seeing where you're going. Again, all that's left to do is the lining, which is boring as hell but it needs to be done, I s'pose. uuuuuuuuugh.
To add insult to injury, I'm headed on a summer holiday in a few days, so this baby will have to wait even if I DO get it done.

TO SPOTLIGHT ------------>
My spotlight trip got off to a rough start, actually. My Aunt gave me a voucher for the store, but neglected to write how much it was worth on it. Now, when you receive a gift, the polite thing to do is NOT say "Oi how much have you given me????"
The Spotlight staff did not agree, and when I asked them to scan it to find out how much was on it (something they have done for me a few times before), they completely flipped out and (aggressively) asked for proof of purchase. I was quick to ask them why I would have this, because I would have to be a bit of a moron to buy myself a voucher. They eventually agreed.
My mother found this hilarious. "Tess!!! Go buy yourself some fun surprises with the voucher you bought yourself even though you forgot how much you bought it for!!!"
It was fine cos they did it for me eventually but come on, guys. There's no need to be nasty. I'm about to spend ninety bucks of christmas vouchers in your store. I'm the best.

I got these cute as fuck bits of raincoat fabric for just over $20 a metre to make a jacket as a favour for a friend of a friend. She's pretty laid back about what I deliver so I plan on going a bit wild and letting her deal with the (hopefully desirable) consequences. If she hates it I plan on keeping it and loving it as it deserves to be loved. P.s. Ain't those buttons cute as hell???

These are going into a pretty basic shift dress for me to take away on holiday with the boyfriend. Believe it or not, none of my clothes are appropriate for "fun in the sun" type activities. Just so I don't bore myself to death, I plan on putting the penguins in a little row coming down from the neckline, and the purple pompoms around the hem. Just as I was writing this, I realised I forgot to buy a zip. Excellent. Maybe I'll have to actually make functional buttonholes for once. Urgh.

I got this delightfully tacky velvet glittery leopard print for my own personal amusement at around $34 a metre. I can't keep track anymore. I think it may have been on sale but I'm so bad at percentages that I just can't work anything out. The fabric is super wide so I can use it as part of lots of items, but first up is a long bodycon (maybe?) dress I can sass around in like part of the jersey shore cast.

I got this cute as hell denim and fabric dye to make my first foray into the world of dungarees!! I have no idea what I'm doing, but go big or go home I say. I'm planning on maybe dip dyeing (let's try and bring this technique out of "tumblr guuurl" territory) the bottoms of the legs and maybe the back pockets? wait and see, I suppose. If all else fails I'll just put a skirt on it instead of pants, and run away crying.

Also, get ready for the greatest shirt of all time. Don't you just love a decent gorilla? I certainly do. I also thoroughly appreciated these pencil shaped buttons- I looked for bananas, to go with the fabric, but I'm afraid there are dreams that cannot be. Upon looking at the receipt, this fabric was so much more expensive than I thought it was going to be. I don't want to talk about it. it's depressing :----(

Lastly, I spontaneously picked up this money-themed bag of sequins. I have no idea what I'm going to use them for, but I reckon there's a place in my wardrobe for shiny dollar signs, plastic coins, and teeny tiny hundred dollar bills.
I'll make it happen.
