I considered it highly necessary to contact Santa in this situation. I have been eyeing up this fabric for about a year now, and every time I go to buy it it's out of stock. I wasn't about to let this beauty slip through my fingers yet again.
Gimme gimme more ------------>
This lusciousness (purchased from Spotlight) is all that I've ever wanted or needed in life. At $60NZD per metre, it's a hard to justify purchase, so thank god for junk mail. So appreciative of it telling me when fabrics that are probably my true calling come on sale. The greatness of this fur also had an element of hilarity, as it was the first day of the woman who served me and her look of pure fear was second to none. When the fabric was cut, fur exploded all over the counter and is still stuck to me, ten hours later.
I'd be laughing harder about this if this wasn't to be my destiny in a few short days' time.
Ah, but perhaps not? For when I picked this up from the Fabrics Warehouse next door, I got a great tip from the serving-woman-thing. Apparently if you cut it with a craft knife, it minimizes the amount of fluff explosion. Tips such as these are the ultimate bonus of visiting the Fabrics Warehouse, they're oh so clever in all these specific areas. Plus they'll pretend they're your best friend even if they hate you.
Anywho, this was only $28 per metre!! Score!!! Usually for that price you can only get that shitty short fur that you can actually see the plastic sheen on. (This phenomenon is on the top ten list of fabrics related issues that make me upset). I felt like I was getting away with a super serious crime when I handed over the money.
So when this fabric is delivered into my loving embrace come christmas morning, It's going into a lovely lavish as fuck fur coat. The body will be the black fur, the sleeves (I'm thinking raglan style) will be the rainbow. The different textures of the fur together could either be amazing or just plain odd, but, you know, that's a risk I'm willing to run. #yolo or something.
Would it be unreasonable to begin patternmaking now, so as to begin construction immediately upon receiving the above? No, I didn't think so either.
P.s. Because my life currently revolves around christmas, you will be seeing a lot of christmas themed blog post titles. Get ready, I'm not anywhere near running out of ideas.
